The chickens and their eggs were a staple source of food for the community. The doves were always owned by the wife of the Lord and were a symbol of power and wealth of that particular Lady. The doves were used for food, as well as for sending messages.

This is where all the pottery was made and fired. This was done on several occasions during the year and it took several days to heat the kiln up to the temperature required to fire the pots. Clay would have been gathered to make the pots from the river banks below the Castle.
